Step Folding Card!

Hello Crafty Friends!

Amy here, writing my first guest post for Elizabeth Craft Designs. I am excited to bring you a fun step folding card highlighting some amazing products from Annette Green’s Everyday Elements Collection.

Step 1

To make a step folding card, start with a piece of 11” x 4 ¼” 100lb cardstock. Use a scoring tool to add a score line along the 11” side on the 2”, 4” and 7 ½” measurements. At the 2” score, fold the cardstock under (make a mountain fold), at the 4” score, fold the cardstock in (a valley fold) and at the 7 ½” score, fold the cardstock under (a mountain fold). Reinforce the folds with a bone folder and you have a step folding card. I like this unexpected form of a card because it allows you to create different scenes on different folds. Use a coordinating paper pack like Annette Green’s Harmonious Hodgepodge to ensure a cohesive look.

Step 2

Summer is here and in full force where I live so I wanted to create a card to celebrate the season. Using the beautiful coordinating papers from the Harmonious Hodgepodge paper pack, I cut out two pieces: one at 4” x 1 ¾” for the front panel and the other at 4” x 3 ¼” for the second panel and attached those to the card base.

Step 3

I then cut all the coordinating elements from Annette Green’s newest Everyday Elements Collection and the Harmonious Hodgepodge paper pack. “SUMMER” was cut using the Classic Alphabet die set, AHOY! The banner and the circle around the compass and helm from the Circles, Banners & Ribbons die set, the blue banners from Borders & Trims die set and the postage border from the Postage Stamps die set.

Step 4

I stamped the compass, sailboat postage stamp (from Travel & Postage stamp set), and helm (from Phrases & Dingbats stamp set) in navy ink and used dies from the Circles, Banners & Ribbons, as well as the Postage Stamp, die set to cut them out. AHOY! is from the Phrases & Dingbats stamp set and was stamped in black ink.

You can leave a quick message on the inside of the card along with a photo from your favorite vacation spot. What a great way to welcome summer.

I hope you try this cute step-fold card. Please share your creations with us on social media by tagging #ECD; we love to see what you make!

Have a wonderful summer and keep on crafting!
